Kamakawiwo'ole:
Ka'Ano'i
(STCD
6005) |
| |
Ka
'Ano'i, released in 1990, was the first solo
album by Iz Kamakawiwo'ole. At the time he was the
lead singer and a charter member of the Makaha Sons
of Ni'ihau. In 1993 Kamakawiwo'ole left the group
to pursue his solo career, recording five more albums
prior to his passing.
Ka 'Ano'i was named the best Contemporary
Album of the Year, and won the Male Vocalist of the
Year award for Kamakawiwo'ole. His music struck a
chord as it captured the passion he felt on Hawaiian
issues, his kolohe (rascal) nature and carefree
spirit. His humor and humanity are preserved in his
music, and turning to these recordings we remember
the big man who touched so many hearts.
