Ohta-san, or Herbert Ohta, is probably the best known 'ukulele player in the world today. This master has recorded hundreds of album, in styles ranging from symphonic, jazz, and pop to Hawaiian. This recording takes him to the beginning of his career, playing the music of Hawai'i.

This live album from an electrifying 1993 concert at the Waikiki Shell presents the Makaha Sons, Kata Maduli, Del Beazley, Teresa Bright and the Hawaiian All-Star Band (Del Beazley, Manu Boyd, Teresa Bright, Louis Moon Kauakahi, Jerome Koko, Kata Maduli, Cyril Pahinui). The finale "Hawai'i Aloha" features the whole audience that night at the Shell. Truly this is a portrait of Tropical Music.
